Formulation Team Lead

BioMerieux

As a Formulation Team Lead I delegate tasks to team members in the chemical hood, on the pipetteing line, and other stations. I problem-solve on the fly while dealing with people. For example, a formulator could tell me a biological contaminant is present while an alarm goes off. All of this needs to be handled in a timely and professional manner. Additionally, I formulate buffers in conicles, several-liter formulations, and 200-liter drums.

During college and the first year or so after graduation, I worked in outdoor recreation and ecology for four consecutive years. During the course of this work, I have become competent at operating various tools used in various branches of outdoor management. When I worked for Draper City and did my internship with AmeriCorps I expanded this skill set in the application of ecological restoration and noxious weed management.

My passion for ecology, the environment, and the interdisciplinary sciences that are essential to understanding the world around us drew me to pursue hands-on courses and independent studies during the course of my undergraduate education. In these courses, I have worked in a lab collecting data, analyzing findings, and presenting the results in poster and presentation format. I have used YSI meters, done stream gauging, well tests, and soil tests, and used various water quality testing kits.

As an activist, I have attended many trainings on grassroots organizations. I have presented to my college’s CFO and board members, presented to City Common Councils and Town Boards, built school gardens, organized and participated in three Earth Day events, and helped the City of Plattsburgh begin the process of signing onto state programs through NYSERDA. I did these things in collaboration with other activists and organizations.
